Monday, January 28, 2013 - 2:03pm

Seven individuals that practiced many different things and inspired many different people will now be honored on four different billboards throughout Acadiana in celebration of African American History month.

"I think that one, we need to educate particularly the youth of our community about those who have struggled to made better opportunities for them.  Secondly, it sets Lafayette apart from many cities across the United States because I believe this is a first," says Jenelle Chargois, General Manager of R&M Broadcasting.

The billboards started today and will run at four different locations throughout this community and those surrounding.  Everyone is encouraged to join the 10th Annual African American History Parade that will be held on February 24.  It has quickly become one of the largest parades in this area.
