The major renovation on the downtown library in Lafayette are at a mid-way point.  They started about a year ago, and although the rain and cold weather put delays on the project's exterior, the renovation is still on schedule.

"Inside things are going well.  Power to the building, the lights are being turned on, they're closing up the ceiling grid, they're starting to paint, they're starting to put down the carpet it's really going well," says Sona Dombourian, library director.

Inside renovations to the library include a new childrens castle reading area, a craft center as well as new technology and wi-fi.  The project is set to finish by July with a grand opening sometime by the end of this year or beginning of next year.
