Jeremiah Johnson, 26, violated his probation and deputies brought him to jail.
As the deputies were helping Johnson out of a transport van yesterday, Johnson hopped over a deputy, got out of the van, and ran through downtown Lafayette in handcuffs.
Deputies caught up with Johnson about twenty blocks away near the Greyhound station.
Johnson will serve out his time in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center but Johnson is now looking at at least an additional two years on for escaping.
