Pregnant woman accused of stealing rental car from female acquaintance

A pregnant woman is accused of stealing a rental car from a female acquaintance. The car was recovered roughly 2 weeks later in the parking lot of a motel.

According to the arrest report, the victim filed a complaint on Sept. 2, 2013 with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. The victim claimed that her rental vehicle had been stolen and that the person who took it had no intentions of returning it.

The victim continued to explain that she did not know the suspect well and did not know her full name. She provided a description of the woman and noted that she is roughly 6 to 7 months pregnant.

The vehicle was located on Sept. 16, 2013 by the Scott Police Department. It was found in the parking lot of the Howard Johnson motel. They identified the suspect as Amy Whiddon, 28, of Baton Rouge.

Whiddon was arrested and charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle (felony). She was transported back to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and booked on Friday, Oct. 4. Her bond has been set at $7,500.
