Police investigate weekend shooting on Chestnut Street

On June 22, 2013, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to the area of Chestnut Street and Third Street regarding a shooting.

The male victim advised officers he had exited a vehicle when he was confronted by three black males armed with handguns. The victim fled the area on foot while being pursued by the suspects.

A short distance away the victim was picked up by the second male victim, at which time the suspects began shooting at the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle suffered a single gunshot wound to the neck.

The suspects fled the area.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The second victim was not injured during the incident.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
