PC Sheriff: We will be looking at everyone very closely following deputy’s arrest
POINTE COUPEE PARISH, LA — Pointe Coupee Sheriff Bud Torres is placing a critical eye on all of his employees following the arrest of a veteran deputy who was allegedly involved in drug activity.
The investigation against Deputy Joseph Reed Buche, 51, of Ventress, was launched after multiple people made allegations of the illegal activity. The Louisiana State Police completed the investigation.
Sheriff Torres announced on Thursday, Aug. 8 that Buche was arrested and fired from his position with the department. He was booked on two counts of Malfeasance in Office and his bond was set at $10,000.
“This is very disheartening,” Sheriff Torres told NBC33 News when asked about his feelings regarding the investigation. “We will be looking at every deputy in the department very closely from this point forward.”
