An Opelousas man has been arresed for attempting to fill multiple fake prescriptions.

Lester Bowman, 33, went into an Opelousas Pharmacy and attempted to fill prescriptions for four different types of Controlled Medications. After the pharmacist observed differences with the way the prescription cards were filled out, the Opelousas Police were contacted and arrived on scene to detain the suspect.

Bowman stated that he never visited a doctor for any medical reasons and the prescriptions were written by an unknown subject who would pay him if he could return with the filled prescriptions.

Upon completion of the booking process, Bowman attempted to flee from the jail area in which he was soon apprehended and charged with Simple Escape.

Bowman was charged with four counts of Unlawfully Prescribing, Distributing, or Illegally Obtaining Controlled Dangerous Substances and 1 count of Simple Escape.

He is presently being held in the Opelousas Police Department Jail on a bond set at $103,500.
