A 59-year-old man was arrested for allegedly robbing a bank of roughly $14,000. He’s currently locked up in parish prison on a bond of $500,000.

The Scott Police Department reports that the robbery occurred at the Home Bank on Thursday, Oct. 3. The suspect walked into the bank with a gun and demanded money from the teller.

Although the robber managed to escape, officers with the Opelousas Police Department were able to identify Charles Fontenot as the possible suspect.

A warrant was issued for Fontenot’s arrest. When they searched his home, they found over $12,000 in cash that was taken from the bank.

Fontenot was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
