Opelousas man arrested attempted murder charges

Peter Jones, 18, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail facing charges of Attempted Second-Degree murder.

Deputies were called to a disturbance on Hwy 190 in Opelousas just after midnight on March 27. A fight had occurred, but they were unable to locate a victim or a suspect at that time.

After speaking to several witnesses, it was learned that the victim had been transported to a local hospital with several stab wounds to his back and side.

Several witnesses including the victim were able to positively identify the suspect as Peter Jones.

Jones was then located and transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail where he is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
