Online learning's faculty gets recognized at UL
Received the 2013 Sloan-C award for excellence in faculty development for online teaching
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — Online learning at UL, also known as the office of distance learning has been recognized with the 2013 Sloan-C award for excellence in faculty development for online teaching. The Sloan awards recognize the tremendous advances in online learning that result from the ideas and initiatives of people, colleges, and universities globally.
"I think the president said it best. I spoke to him one on one about the award when we found out and he said it's a validation of what we already knew. We've been on a path, we've been focused on quality and we've been focused on putting faculty in the best position to succeed," says Luke Dowden, director of distance learning at UL.
The faculty of distance learning are focusing on their online degree program, and have set a goal amongst themselves to train up to two hundred faculty members by 2015. Right now they are at one hundred.
