New Year's Day disturbance leads to stabbing

A man was allegedly stabbed in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Lafayette Police say that a 31-year-old man and the suspect were engaged in a disturbance. The suspect then allegedly stabbed the man in the chest, around 2:00 a.m.

The victim did not immediately seek medical attention or attempt to call police. The suspect transported the the victim to a hospital around 6:00 a.m. The vicitim still remains there in critical condition.

Officials say the suspect; Ronkeisha Lavine (30) was arrested and charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Lafayette Police are still investigating the incident.
