Nationally recognized painter and instructor visits Lafayette

Water colorist holds workshop around historical places in Lafayette

A nationally recognized water colorist and instructor, Don Getz, spent the week in Acadiana with a group of workshop participants painting local, historical sites around  the city of Lafayette.  It was only fitting with the upcoming Easter holiday that Don and the group stop to paint St. Johns Cathedral in downtown Lafayette today as he concludes his tour of Cajun Country.

"The church for one thing was very very impressive.  We spent yesterday at River Ranch and that was enjoyable.  The people have been very conducive in working with me and with the group.  We've had a lot of fun and the week has just gone bingo like that," says Don Getz, nationally recognized water colorist.

The Ohio native is leaving Acadiana tomorrow and heading to our state's capital Baton Rouge to paint historical structures there before moving along with his tour around the United States.  The local workshop participants have painted scenes from the UL Alumni House, All Seasons Nursery, Acadian Village, and ended today with St. Johns Cathedral.
