UPDATED -- The Ragin Cajun football program received twenty-one national letters of intent on National Signing Day.
Mark Hudspeth has a total of twenty-seven new players for his second recruiting class as the head coach.
With the recruiting wars over, UL's Recruiting Coordinator Reed Stringer voiced his thoughts on how this 2012 class stacks up.
"We signed a better class this year than we did last year. These guys can come in and help us take it to the next level. We were excited about the bowl win, we were excited about 9 wins but we are trying to take this to the next level. We are going for a Sunbelt Championship. We're looking to win every game we play and we're looking for big things out of this class," stated Stringer.
The 2012 class includes five players from the Acadiana area.
Original Story -- Yesterday on National Signing Day Coach Mark Hudspeth announced twenty-seven new members to the UL Lafayette football team.
Thirteen of them are from Louisiana.
The UL coaching staff went up against major universities in this year's recruiting wars and were very pleased with the results.
"We think we've answered a lot of questions and we think hopefully we've answered a lot of questions at each position. We definitely once again have done it with going the high school route and that's always going to be the foundation of our program. Once again also we are very proud to be I think in the top two programs in the entire state of Louisiana for signing the most players from the state of Louisiana," stated Hudspeth.
