National Day of Prayer Celebrated in Scott

Today was the National Day of Prayer, "an annual observance held on the first Thursday of every May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation". Local government officials and religious leaders in Scott held a special ceremony to mark the occasion welcoming people of all backgrounds and religious beliefs. National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution in Congress and became law under president Harry Truman. "The mission of National Day of Prayer is to mobilize prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in our culture".
