Crowley Police have extradited a Mississippi man who recently resided in the city of Crowley for failure to register as a sex offender.

According to Crowley Police, during a review of sex offenders registration & evaluation program (S.O.R.E.), it was discovered that Thomas Durham, 35, was residing in the city of Crowley, but failed to register as a sex offender. During the time this violation was discovered, Durham moved to Liberty, Mississippi.

“Our officers issued warrants for the arrest of Thomas Durham but discovered that he had moved. We were not sure of where he moved to, but were able to locate him in Mississippi. Even though he moved away and it seemed that this problem was resolved, it remained our responsibility to being Durham to justice,” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.

With the assistance of authorities in Mississippi, Durham was arrested on the Crowley Police warrant. Durham waived extradition, which allowed Crowley Police to transfer Durham to the Acadia Parish Jail where he will face charges for failing to register as a sex offender.
