Members of the community reflect on the attacks of September 11, 2001
Many remember exactly where they were and how they felt twelve years ago
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — As we remember the events of September 11, we asked members of the community about what they remember most just twelve years ago.
"It was one of the most horrible days that I've ever...I'm 78 years old and I've been through the second world war and all the different things, but this was terrible because it was on our home ground. I couldn't believe it was happening to us," says Beulah Broussard.
"The commons area, it was just, you could hear a pen drop. All the students were just standing around just staring in shock at all of the monitors, and watching the coverage over and over," says Sherrie Alexander.
"Later that afternoon during football practice we had three senior football players walk off the field to go enlist right then and there. If I hadn't been a freshman, and was eighteen, I might have been the fourth one walking off the field," says Prentice Tannehill.
All members we spoke with had the same sentiment in saying that it feels like just yesterday when all of the events of 9-11 happened, and that it is hard to believe it has been twelve years.
