One member of the Acadiana community is trying to give back by hosting a meeting for drug and gang awareness in Crowley tomorrow night.  Charles Banks Sr. is a motivational speaker and founder of D'GAPP, which stands for Drug Gang Prevention Awareness Program.  Because of the recent violence that has come out of the Crowley community, Charles Banks Sr. is hosting a meeting at Greater Love Family Worship Center at 6:30 pm.  He explains why this cause hits so close to home.

"I am a former gang member, leader of the CRIPS, apart of the HBO special "Gang Bangin in Little Rock."  I know what violence leads to.  To come from my background I want to give back to this community and let this community know that there is still hope.  There is still some great children out here.  Our future relies on the children so we want the community to come together and I want to give my resources back to my community," says Charles Banks Sr., founder of D'GAPP.

Mr. Banks urges those in the community to attend this meeting because it takes a united effort to stop the violence.  He believes his knowledge can help everyone make this community a safer place.  The meeting will take place tomorrow night at 6:30 pm at Greater Love Family Worship Center 1001 North Avenue Crowley, La.  This meeting is leading up to a rally to be held early January at the Martin Luther King Center also in Crowley.
