Man arrested for Cankton home invasion

Cankton, LA - St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena has announced an arrest in connection to a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred on May 15, 2014.
Captain Vizena stated, “On May 15, we received a complaint regarding a home invasion on Billeaux Road in Cankton. The victim advised detectives that he was awakened by 2 males subjects armed with guns. The victim was beaten and restrained behind his back. The victim stated that he overheard the subjects planning to cut his throat and that’s when he was able to break loose and run for help.”

“On May 18, St. Landry Crime Stoppers received a tip stating that Shane Pomier was one of the subjects involved in the home invasion. A photo line-up was presented to the victim and he was able to successfully identify Pomier as one of his attackers. With the help of the United States Marshall’s Office and Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Pomier was taken into custody with no incident,” Vizena said.

Pomier was charged with home invasion, armed robbery, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon and attempted first degree murder. He is currently being held at the St. Landry Parish Jail with a $500,000 bond.
