A Carencro man was arrested on abuse charges after he allegedly whipped his girlfriend’s young child, causing him serious injuries.

The Carencro Police Department was called to investigate after being contacted by the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette. A 3-year-old child was admitted with lashes to his buttocks and private area.

Investigators spoke to the child’s mother. She told them that her son was in the care of her boyfriend, Brandon Sayrie, 22.
