PORT ALLEN, LA (KADN) — Shortly after 3:00 am on Sunday, February 16, 2014, a State Trooper stopped a Chrysler 200 on I-10 eastbound west of LA Hwy 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish for a traffic violation. The driver of the Chrysler was an active duty US Army Sergeant wearing full military fatigues. After speaking with the driver Sgt. Horace Brown, 30, of Cantonment, FL, Troopers became suspicious and asked for permission to search the vehicle. Upon obtaining consent, Troopers discovered approximately 23 pounds of marijuana hidden in a duffle bag. Sgt. Brown stated that he was traveling from Fort Polk to Fort Bragg, NC.
Sgt. Brown was arrested and charged with LRS 32:79 (Improper Lane Usage) and LRS 40:966 (Possession with Attempt to Distribute Schedule 1 Narcotics - marijuana). He was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish jail. US Army CID was contacted and informed of the arrest.
