LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — Lafayette police are looking for the suspect in a robbery that occurred on Thursday, Dec. 5, at about 6:30 p.m. at a convenience store in the 100 black of South College Road.
According to the clerk, the suspect approached the counter to purchase a bottle of water.
When the clerk opened the register, the suspect reached over the counter and grabbed money from the drawer. The suspect fled the store on foot.
The suspect is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing blue jeans and a shirt with red lettering.
Officers at the scene located a white male suspect in a nearby parking lot of an apartment complex.
The suspect, Richard Skidmore, 58, of Lafayette, refused to comply with the police. After a short struggle, Skidmore was taken into custody.
During the investigation, police were unable to charge Skidmore with the robbery, but he was arrested for Resisting an Officer. He was later released on a misdemeanor summons.
Detectives are asking the public to view the surveillance photo and to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS with any information about the robbery.
