Excessive Heat Warning Today

An excessive Heat Advisory is in effect for the entire area today. Dangerous heat starting this morning and lasting several hours during peak times. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the upper 90's but will feel like 105 -114 degrees.

Tropical Storm Don

Don has not changed much overnight and remains a Tropical Storm with sustained winds near 40mph. Don continues to move WNW at 9 mph. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the Texas coast in response to the latest forecast track.

Tropical Wave Better Organized

This morning the showers and storms along with a Tropical Wave south of Cuba have become more concentrated. The chance for development has been raised to 20% over the next 48 hours for this system to become a Tropical Cyclone.

Tropical Wave Keeps Rain Chance High

Disorganized Tropical Wave, near Cuba, moving west at 20 mph is unlikely to develop. The Tropical Wave is expected to move into the Gulf over the next 48 hours less than 10% chance of development. 

Rockefeller Closes

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed a portion of Rockefeller State Wildlife Refuge (SWR) due to litter problems created by recreational fishermen.
