Officials have released more details on Patrick Paul George, the 36-year-old man charged with three counts of battery.
Sgt Mark Francis of the Lafayette Police Department said, “He was identified as the perpetrator responsible for the three stabbings…cuttings that had taken place.”
George is accused of stabbing three people in the Plaza, a local nightclub located off of Johnston Street. The incident happened Sunday as the club was closing.
The owner of the club said George got a knife into the club despite security.
But some are asking why George was in a nightclub rather than in a jail cell to begin with?
George has been arrested at least 20 times since 1990 for various offenses including second degree murder and armed robbery.
“I can tell you he has an extensive criminal history and of course that is all at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse downtown” stated Sgt. Francis.
George who bonded out of jail after being charged with three counts of aggravated battery may still face more serious charges. Sgt. Francis said that one of the victims was more seriously injured than they initially thought.
Francis also said that the victims will be interviewed again to determine whether or not George’s charges will be upgraded due to the seriousness of one of the victim’s injuries.
