The two day event consists of high schools from the Acadiana area presenting their ideas on how to promote Gulf Coast tourism.

The students have to come up with a plan that uses zero advertising dollars.

BP is partnering with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in this competition.

The high school team with the most innovative plan will receive $64,000 in scholarship money.

"We're holding competitions. We just finished Shreveport and Monroe. We're hosting Lafayette right now and then we go to Alexandria, Hammond, and Luling. So we have 63 teams about 244 high school students from across the state that are participating in helping Louisiana learning how to promote itself using social media," explained Frank Wallace, UL College of Business.

Today's competition at the Lite Center includes the teams from St. Thomas More and Sacred Heart of Ville Platte.

The final competition will be at UL on March 8th.
