Lafayette and Greenville, NC mayors in friendly challenge
Betting with food
Lafayette, LA (KADN) — UL students and alumni are not the only ones partaking in the bowl game event. Both teams' governments have decided to spice up the competition. The mayor and City-Parish President Joey Durel along with the mayor of Greenville, NC have engaged in a friendly challenge to benefit the two cities.
"We got contacted by the mayors office in Greenville, North Carolina and they have evidently done this before. He issued a challenge about food and I said hmm, sounds like a win win! So yeah we both agreed that the mayors win one way or the other," says Mayor Joey Durel.
The winning mayor will be treated to home cooking from the losing mayor following the game. Greenville is known for their bar-b-que, and mayor Durel says he is trying to decide whether our food will be crawfish or crawfish etoufee. Mayor Durel did say that he is fully confident he will be receiving some great bar-b-que come next week.
