Kentwood man stabs his brother several times during argument about family matters

A Kentwood man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his brother several times with a pocket knife.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Richard Peter Ballard, Jr., 51, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery on Friday, Aug. 3.

Reports indicate that deputies were dispatched to a home on Simms Road during the afternoon. When they arrived they found the victim, Kenneth Ballard, 48, suffering from several stab wounds.

Witnesses say the suspect and the victim were engaged in a verbal argument about family related matters when things got heated. Richard Ballard, Jr. allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and began stabbing his brother.

Officials tell us the victim is in stable condition and should fully recover from his injuries.

Richard Ballard, Jr. was arrested without incident and was placed in the parish jail. He is currently awaiting bond.
