Helping law enforcement face next hurricane or seasonal flood

In the face of the next hurricane or seasonal flood the citizens of Iberia parish can rest assured that law enforcement in that area is prepared.  The sheriffs office has a five ton military vehicle to use for emergency situations and natural disasters.

"It ensures that our deputies are going to be able to access any point in the parish during a hurricane or wide spread flooding.  The sheriff never wants to tell a citizen that we can't get to them in the event that they're in need of rescue," says Sergeant Ashley Hammons, Iberia parish sheriffs office.

The vehicle is from the Louisiana Federal Surplus in Baton Rouge, and will come in handy every year when the parish is faced with the threat of hurricanes and seasonal flooding.
