Iberia parish man arrested on multiple drug, gun charges

A New Iberia man has been placed under arrest after officials found multiple drugs and guns in his home.

On May 30, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a home in the 800 block of Field Street. The search of the residence concluded a two-month long investigation by narcotic agents.

Authorities found 313 grams of high grade marijuana, 106 xanax tablets, 50 tablets and a small amount of crack cocaine. Agents also seized two hand guns, one shotgun and one rifle.

Jamal Rankin, 27, was charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule II Narcotics (two counts), Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule IV Narcotics, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a CDS in the Presence of a Juvenile and Monies Derived From Drug Transactions.

Also arrested was Darcy Bourgeois; she was charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Both suspects were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
