Homeowner involved in shootout with robbers arrested afterward

 A Shreveport man is accused of breaking into a local home Sunday night.

At 9:35 p.m., Shreveport officers responded to a house in the 2500 block of Dupont Street to a reports of home invasion. When police arrived, the homeowner, Rafeal Sinville, 29, told them he was inside his home when he heard a knock at the front door. Sinville says he opened the door to investigate and two men barged through the door into his home-- one armed with a handgun.

While inside the home, the men allegedly demanded money and valuables. It was later learned that during the course of the incident, Sinville retrieved a gun of his own and shots were allegedly exchanged between the homeowner and one of the robbers.

Following the robbery attempt, the thieves, described as two black males, left the scene driving what witnesses described as a dark blue, Ford Crown Victoria with dark wheels. No one was injured.

Investigators later learned that the homeowner was in possession of a handgun illegally and was arrested and charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
