BATON ROUGE, LA. (NBC33) — In advance of a predicted, near-normal season, state officials came together today for a midseason review of their hurricane preparedness plans and coordination with other agencies. They encouraged residents to prepare now, while the weather is quiet, for a tropical system.
"I'm proud to stand up here with my other partners and say that we are ready in Louisiana," Col. Mike Edmonson, Louisiana State Police, said. "We understand that there is going to be things thrown at us that maybe we haven't always trained for, but that flexibility is built in, in our state government- as of today, is sound and ready to respond."
August and September are, typically, active months for Louisiana in Hurricane Season. Hurricane Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike all impacted Louisiana during these two months.
