July 16, 2014 — The Acadiana Cane Cutters are back in town at Fabacher Field in Youngsville. As you might know, the team is made up of all college baseball players from universities in the state of Louisiana as well as nearby states at other schools. It's a fine brand of baseball and the team uses the old fashioned wooden bats instead of the aluminum used in college games.
One of those Cane Cutter players is Lafayette's own Kennon Menard who prepped at Teurlings High School and now plays at Southeastern in Hammond.
"I'm Kennon Menard, I'm from Lafayette, Louisiana and play second and short for Teurlings Catholic High School. I now go to Southeastern Louisiana University and being a Cane Cutter is like being a Lion. Always a champion. First year went well, I enjoyed South Eastern. I played against a bunch of grew teams like UL, LSU and Ole Miss and got a lot of reps in. I got a lot better and I am looking forward to next year."
You can check out the boys of Summer, the Acadiana Cane Cutters tomorrow night as they host the east Texas Pump Jacks at 7pm. And right before the game, there will be a media challenge as they will have a chance to bat against one of the UL Ragin Cajun softball pitchers and those ladies are good!....Our own Jon Arnold will represent KADN FOX 15...That's tomorrow at Fabacher Field...Check em out!
