The Louisiana Democratic Party's state wide tour stopped in the Hub City yesterday.
The party and the Legislative Black Caucus set up shop at the Holiday Inn
The political leaders have hit up 35 parishes on the road trip.
They call it the Getting Back To Basics tour.
The goal is to get people ready for the 2012 presidential election and also races set for 2014.
"Of course since we didn't have statewide candidates we are down. We did not fill statewide candidates. And I really regret that. We're going to see now that the party offers anyone who wants to run support and let them see visible activity locally of registering voters. Putting out news releases and letting people know what those candidates would be for," stated Buddy Leach, Louisiana's Democratic Chairman.
Buddy Leach said his party is doing well.
Leach cited the mayors of 13 of the 14 largest cities in Louisiana are Democrats.
