A former North Caddo High School teacher was taken into custody Thursday for stealing school materials.

Rodney Doyle, 42, of Dubberly, is charged with stealing $9,000 worth of metal from the school's welding department, which is a felony theft.

Detectives say Doyle worked as a teacher assigned to the school’s welding department during the 2011-12 school year. He did not return to teach this year.

In September, school officials reported the theft of around $9,000 worth of metal missing from the building. Scrap yard receipts with Doyle’s name on them were found in his desk, showing he allegedly sold metal from the school between December 2011 and April 2012. He received about $2,300 from the scrap yard.

He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
