Former Lafayette Officer accused of falsifying public records, charged with malfeasance in office

A former officer with the Lafayette Police Department has been arrested for allegedly altering public records.

Lafayette District Attorney Mike Harson tells NBC33 News that Kencil Joseph was arrested on July 16, 2012 for Malfeasance in Office and Injuring Public Records. His arraignment was held on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

We’re told the charges stem from allegations that Joseph intentionally placed false information on an accident report regarding the identity of the driver of the offending vehicle.

No additional information could be provided regarding the specifics of the case.
