Employee killed during industrial accident at Baton Rouge facility

A 41-year-old man was killed during an industrial accident at a pipe facility located in Baton Rouge.

Emergency responders were called to the Stupp Corporation at roughly 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. When they arrived, the found the employee pinned between two large pipes.

Antonio Pollard of Denham Springs was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the accident. So far they believe one of the large pipes rolled forward while Pollard was working, causing him to become trapped.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death, which is standard procedure.

According to the company’s website, the Stupp Corporation produced high integrity pipe and services for the transportation of oil, gas, and associated products. The Baton Rouge location serves as the company’s corporate headquarters.
