DWI suspicion leads to narcotics arrest
THIBODAUX, LA — Thibodaux Chief of Police Scott Silverii announced the arrest of Donald Harry Jr., 40, for DWI (2nd), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine, Simple Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce.
Also, arrested was Ron Cleveland Batiste, 43, for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine, and a Thibodaux City Court Warrant for Failing to Pay Fines and Costs.
On Thursday, August 23, around 11:00 p.m. Thibodaux Police Officers spotted a Silver Jeep Cherokee stopped in the middle of Good Street near Gerald T Peltier. The driver, Donald Harry Jr., was hanging out of the vehicle vomiting on the roadway. Police, who believed Harry to be impaired, administered a field sobriety test, which he failed.
Police could also smell marijuana coming from the vehicle, and the passenger, Ron Batiste, moving around trying to hide something. After a further investigation, Police located marijuana and cocaine inside of the vehicle.
Both Harry and Batiste admitted to Police they had been smoking marijuana. Donald Harry Jr. and Ron Batiste were arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of bonds.
Donald Harry Jr. had a BAC of .191g%.
