DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (NBC33) — A local musician is in much better spirits today. That’s because he’s regained the prized possessions that were stolen from his recording studio back in June.
"The music industry is a roller coaster ride," Steel Bill, local singer/songwriter, said. “You could be all the way at the top then trickle down and hit rock bottom.”
If you ask Bill today how his career’s going, he will tell you that it’s never been better.
"I don’t feel like what I’m going to do or what I’m going to achieve - as of right now – that I’m at my peak.”
But that wasn’t the case just a few months ago when everything in his home recording studio was stolen.
“You go to bed around 1 or 2 in morning thinking everything is cool – then you wake up at 8 and the studio door is open and everything you’ve worked on for 12-13 years is gone."
We're talking about $50-thousand worth of instruments, recording equipment, and more. it could've been a breaking point.
"I was telling myself just don't quit. I have children and they would look at me and say, ‘man, it was that easy?’”
About a month after our story about the break in-aired on NBC33 News in June, someone found some of the equipment up for sale on the Internet.
“Got with detectives they said we found our board - he got with the guys who lead them to the rest of my stuff."
It’s all back where it belongs, today. The timing couldn't be more perfect as Steel Bill gets ready to hop a plane for what could be his biggest break yet.
"What’s next for me is basically going to New York and hopefully going to sign the biggest deals of the year. Coming back and showing Louisiana what we got.”
