City-Parish Council discussing endorsement of Plan Lafayette and the Downtown Action Plan

Monday, June 30, 2014 - 5:13pm

The Downtown Development Authority is making a plea to the public to come out tomorrow night and attend the City-Parish Coucil meeting on the future of Lafayette and downtown development.  They are asking everyone in the community to be a part of making history tomorrow at the meeting to endorse Plan Lafayette and the Downtown Action Plan.  While the actual council endorsement will be an important milestone for our community, the tough work of implementation lies ahead, and they want you to pack the room and the hallways and break history with the highest public attendance ever at a City-Parish Council meeting.

"This is when Lafayette has the opportunity to really show up in numbers and tell the council members that this is what we want.  We've gone through this whole process, we've told you what we want, the consultants have listened and put it into this plan, and now it's their turn to take some action," says Kate Durio, Communications Director for Downtown Development Authority.

If you want to learn more about the plan you can go to the website  The meeting will start at 5:30 tomorrow evening, and there will be an after party after the meeting downtown at The Filling Station.  Every generation should be represented so please bring your friends and family.
