Crime prevention in Acadiana Parish going high tech

Wednesday, September 5, 2012 - 6:00pm

Crime prevention in one Acadiana Parish has gone high tech.

In St.Landry Parish, it's bad news for the bad guys
Opelousas Sheriff Bobby Guidroz introduced something called police watch which is a new video burglar alarm system that sends a digital video feed complete with a two way communication directly to law enforcement.

Deputies will have the ability to see what is happening inside a business in real time which will help them make a clear ID on the subject.
Unlike traditional alarms, this goes directly to the 911 dispatch communication center.

St.Landry Parish will be the First Sheriff's Office in the state to use it.
Anyone who wants to learn more about Police Watch for your business is asked to call Sheriff Guidroz at 337-948-6516
