In Tangipahoa Parish the situation in Southern Mississippi and northern parts of the parish is improving.
Mississippi crews are still working on a controlled breach of the dam at the Percy Quin State Park.
Governor Jindal says the pressure has been relieved and the dam isn't in as much danger of breaking.
The Governor went on to explain that the water level is actually lower than it was at this time yesterday.
Those in the evacuation area within half a mile of the river on the east or west from Kentwood South still need to pay close attention.
That's between 40 and 60 thousand people many of them are still in shelters tonight.
If the controlled breach continues as planned very little impact is expected in Louisiana which means people could start heading home soon.
