City of Scott welcomes major new facility with groundbreaking ceremony today
National Oil Well Varco building new facility off of I-10 and bringing in 60 new employee positions to the area
Lafayette (KADN) — Today was a great day for the city of Scott as they welcomed a new major business into the area with a groundbreaking ceremony to start construction off of I-10. National Oil Well Varco is an oil field service company involved in service and manufacturing worldwide.
"It's going to bring commerce to the city of Scott. Any time we have an opportunity to bring a new business in, and an established business as Varco, it's a great opportunity," says Mayor Purvis Morrison, mayor of Scott.
"One of the aspects of this new facility is going to be training so we're going to probably be using up a lot of hotel space and so forth as we bring in folks from around the country in, and actually from outside the country as we bring them in for training," says Carl LaCombe, technincal manager for fluid control at National Oil Well Varco.
The facility will consist of two 14,000 square-foot buildings. One will house offices and the other will be a training facility. The business is expected to employ sixty people. They are expecting to be working in the new facility as early as next January.
