LAFAYETTE, LA — A Carencro man has been arrested for shooting murder in Lafayette.
On January 21 at around 7:15 p.m., Lafayette Police were in the area of the 400 block of Hilda Street when a disturbance occurred. There was a large crowd of people in the roadway when officers heard a gunshot.
Officers found Jordan Melancon, 22, of Lafayette, collapsed on the ground from a gunshot wound in front of a residence. The victim was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.
Investigators with the Lafayette Police Department have arrested Jacob Ardoin, 21, and charged him with Second-Degree Murder. The investigation remains ongoing.
