Cancer Center of Acadiana offering clinical trials to patients in our community
Giving patients more options, also attracting better doctors to our area
LAFAYETE (KADN) — The Cancer Center of Acadiana at Lafayette General is offering clinical trials for patients here in Lafayette. The clinical trials refer mostly to pharmaceutical sponsored trials that doctors can get patients to try for various drugs in various stages of development. In short, it gives patients more options.
"Options are what patients want. They don't want to have to travel far away for their care. If they can get great state-of-the-art care over here in Lafayette, and we believe that's possible," says Dr. Salman Malad, medical director of clinical research for oncology at Cancer Center of Acadiana.
Being able to offer patients these clinical trials is a big part in helping Lafayette General evolve into a teaching hospital. It not only provides more options for patients, but it also attracts potential doctors that are more motivated and interested in providing that type of care for their patients to the area.
