NEW ORLEANS, LA (KADN) — Ragin’ Cajun fans flocked to New Orleans Friday for Saturday’s New Orleans bowl matchup with East Carolina. Both teams are 8-3 on the year. Both teams are riding a three-game win streak. Last year, in their first bowl win in 43 years, they shattered the New Orleans bowl attendance record by over 12,000 fans. The paid attendance was 42,841 in 2011 when the Cajuns took down San Diego State, 32-30.
This year those same fans are back and hope to break that record. “Thousands of people are coming. We came last year and more are coming this year,” Doyle Boudreaux, a loyal Cajun fan, said. “Coach Hud has the team going in the right direction and fans are excited,” he added.
In his second year as head coach Mark Hudspeth has led the Cajuns to two straight bowl appearances. He has won 17 games in his short time at the helm.
“It’s going to be a very exciting game like last year,” Charlie Doucet said.
Kickoff for the R & L Carriers New Orleans Bowl is set for 11 a.m.
The game will be televised on ESPN.
