Bobby Jindal issues public health emergency for state of Louisiana

Monday, September 3, 2012 - 7:48pm

Bobby Jindal issued a public health emergency for the entire state.
The executive order says, quote:
"The state continues to experience widespread flooding in certain areas, has issued more than 200 water boil advisories, and lost over 40% of electrical power statewide for an extended amount of time."
so what does this mean?
This means the executive order went on to explain that a declaration of public health emergency is necesssary to allow federal, state, and local governments to go on private property.

That allowance is so they can assess and remove any nuisance debris that poses a health hazard.
This public health emergency was a request by the secretary of the Department Of Health And Hospitals and the state health officer.
The emergency will last one month unless terminated sooner.
