
LAFAYETTE, LA — A suspect in a Baton Rouge murder has been taken into custody in Lafayette.
Ruben van Dyke, 32, was arrested shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 by the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office while walking along the 6500 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway. Van Dyke is a suspect in the murder of Brannon Counts, 32.
Counts was killed on Friday on Hollywood street around 5:00 p.m.
Van Dyke is scheduled to be transferred to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faces First-Degree murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Dangerous Weapon Charges.
