LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — One thief was arrested and the other escaped after a robbery on December 27.
According to Lafayette Police, the Dollar General in the 1100 block of West Willow Street, was robbed around 9:15 p.m.
Two men allegedly entered the store wearing masks, and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The two suspects ran out the store, after stealing money from the register.
Police officers spotted a white pickup truck speeding away, as they arrived. Officers chased the truck until the two suspects abandoned it on Ransome Street.
The two suspects ran into a residential neighborhood. A K-9 unit caught one suspect in the 100 block of Charles Street. Police were unable to find the second suspect.
Jacolby Boutte (20) was identified as the suspect police arrested. Boutte was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Moveable, Armed Robbery, Resisting Arrest and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine.
Investigators also discovered that the pickup truck used was stolen from the Lake Charles area. Police are still investigating and need your help in locating the second suspect.
