(CNN) — Argentine forces raided sites across the country Wednesday as part of a nationwide slavery ring crackdown.
Hundreds of agents swarmed 80 locations in 10 provinces, where authorities estimate that at least 200 Colombians have been working in subhuman conditions, officials said.
Prosecutors were seeking the detention of 17 suspects in connection with the slavery network, federal officials said in a statement.
In Cordoba province, the raids focused on furniture-making workshops in working class neighborhoods, the state-run Telam news agency reported.
At least eight Colombian nationals have been arrested in connection with the raids, Telam said.
