A 27-year-old man from Broussard was killed after he crashed his motorcycle into a tractor trailer that was turning into a private driveway.

The Broussard Police Department reports that the crash occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at roughly 1:15 p.m. We’re told the driver of the motorcycle, Patrick Wafer, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say the crash happened on N. Bernard Road. The driver of the tractor trailer was pulling into the driveway of a business when he was hit by Wafer’s motorcycle. Wafer was ejected and although he was wearing a helmet, he died instantly.

Investigators believe Wafer was speeding when the crash occurred. However, they also believe the driver of the tractor trailer, Chris Johnson, 44, of Lafayette, did not properly yield before making his left turn.

Although alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash, a routine toxicology test is being performing.
