ORIGINAL: A stolen gun from Baton Rouge was found in the car of a repeat OWI offender. It was discovered after the driver was involved in a car crash.
The Scott Police Department reports that officers responded to the call of a two-vehicle crash on Saturday, May 4 at roughly 5:30 a.m. When officers arrived to the intersection of Cameron Street and Apollo Road, they found that one of the drivers involved was highly intoxicated.
Officials say Joshua Craft, 21, failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested for Operation While Intoxicated (second offense) and Carless Operation.
Officers then searched Craft’s vehicle and located a .357 magnum revolver. They later determined the handgun was reported stolen from a Baton Rouge home in 2006.
Craft was additionally charged with Illegal Possession of a Firearm. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
Officials say Craft submitted a breath sample during booking. It registered at 0.182 percent.
